eye test and eye eaxmination

We provide the full range of eye examinations, both private and NHS. Our practice has invested in the equipment necessary to provide retinal photography, visual field screening and colour blindness tests. You will receive a thorough check up!

What happens during an eye examination?

Generally, your eye examination will take approximately 25-30 minutes.

Mr O’Leary will chat with you regarding any concerns, details of your work, lifestyle, hobbies, health and any medication taken.

He will check the health of your eyes and ensure that the best prescription is advised.

He may do further tests, for example visual fields or retinal photography.

He will discuss his findings and your options if a new prescription is found or if there are any queries regarding your health.

If you require spectacles our Dispensing Optician will discuss your requirements and explain clearly the options and benefits of different spectacle lenses and frames.

We will also tell you when your next appointment is due.

What should I bring to the appointment?

  • Spectacles if worn
  • Your prescription if available
  • A list of medication taken
  • Confirmation of benefit entitlement if relevant

If you are unable to attend we would be grateful if you could give us 24 hours notice when possible.

If you are housebound, we can provide a home visiting service. This is available within a specific area.

Please ask our staff for details.
